Rusa Deer Hunting
Rusa are among the most elusive deer found in New Zealand bush. They like to live amongst thick scrub and bush, predominately on the north facing slopes to get the most warmth and sun.
Rusa were introduced into New Zealand in 1907 from New Caledonia.
The length of the tines make Rusa antlers an impressive sight, with a mature stag having 6 points. This comprises of one main beam rising vertically and two smaller sturdy points protruding. The Rusa roar (rut) runs from mid July to end of August.
