Sika deer are a very aggressive animal. In the roar, which runs from April to mid May, they are very territorial and vocal stag.
A fully grown stag has typically 8 points with the odd stag having 9 or 10 points. The Sika roar is quite different from other deer species, its best described as a scream or whistle, often ending in a grunt.
Sika are very alert and sometimes frustrating animal to hunt. Their elusiveness makes them a prized trophy for hunters.
